Importance of Nirjala Ekadashi

On this Ekadashi, which falls in the Shukla Paksha of Jyeshtha month, a fast is observed without food and water. There is a religious belief that by observing this fast one gets the virtue of all the Ekadashis of the year. It is believed that by fasting on this Ekadashi with true devotion one attains salvation and all sins are destroyed.
How to do Nirjala Ekadashi Puja
- After waking up early in the morning and taking bath etc., take a pledge to observe Nirjala fast.
- Worship Lord Vishnu, offer him water, flowers, and naivedya.
- ‘Om Namo Bhagwate Vasudevaya’ Chant the mantra.
- A pitcher of water after evening puja, Donation of sherbet or fruit Do it.
- Next day i.e. on Dwadashi morning, break the fast by taking water after bathing.
