Fierce explosion of inflation! From petrol-diesel to LPG and CNG, everything became expensive.

The direct impact of the ongoing conflict between Iran and America is now clearly visible everywhere, which has reached from our streets to our home kitchens. The continuously increasing prices of petrol and diesel have further fueled inflation in the country, due to which traveling on the road is now proving to be very expensive for the general public. Not only this, people are not getting any relief from the prices of CNG, and the huge increase in the prices of LPG cylinders has ruined the entire kitchen budget of middle class families.

You will remember that even during the Russia-Ukraine war, when the prices of crude oil were skyrocketing in the international market, the prices of petrol and diesel in India remained absolutely stable. However, after remaining without any change for four whole years, finally in May 2026, there was a sudden rocket-like rise in the prices of petrol and diesel. Only four hikes by oil companies took the prices to around ₹7.50 per litre. Along with this, a huge increase has also been recorded in the prices of CNG and LPG.

If we talk about domestic LPG cylinder, before this global conflict, the price of 14.2 kg cylinder was completely stable for more than a year. In the country’s capital Delhi, domestic LPG cylinder was easily available for ₹ 853. Till the end of February, when America and Israel together attacked Iran, everything was going normal in the market. But after this attack, the global energy crisis suddenly deepened, due to which the prices of crude oil in the international market crossed $125 per barrel. Since LPG prices are usually changed on the first of every month, its effect was seen soon.

Huge increase in domestic gas cylinder prices by ₹89

Although the new rates were announced by the oil companies on March 1, but it is a matter of relief that there was no change in the prices of domestic cylinders at that time. However, under the pressure of increasing international tension, oil marketing companies had to announce new rates for domestic LPG cylinders after just a few days i.e. on March 7. In this change, there was a huge increase of ₹ 60, due to which the price of domestic cylinder in Delhi increased from ₹ 853 to ₹ 913. Just three months after this shock, the prices were increased again by ₹29. After this new increase, now people living in Delhi have to pay ₹ 942 for domestic LPG cylinder.

Historic jump of ₹1,373 in commercial cylinder prices

These last three months have been no less than a major setback for shopkeepers, hotel owners and businessmen using commercial LPG cylinders. In just three months, the price of a 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder has jumped from ₹1,740.50 to ₹3,113.50—a total increase of a record-breaking ₹1,373. If understood sequentially, the price of this cylinder was ₹ 1,740.50 in February, but as soon as the month of March arrived, it was hit twice by inflation. First of all, on March 1, 2026, the price of commercial cylinder increased by ₹ 28, making it ₹ 1,768.50. Soon after, on March 7, it was again increased by ₹114.50, taking the price of a 19 kg cylinder in Delhi to ₹1,883.

This journey of inflation did not stop here, on April 1, 2026, the price of commercial cylinder increased to ₹ 2,078.50. But the biggest and historic shock came in the month of May, when a record increase of ₹ 993 was made in one go. Due to this huge surge, its price in Delhi directly crossed ₹ 3,071.50. After this, on June 1, the companies once again increased the price by ₹ 42, after which now the latest price of 19 kg commercial gas cylinder in Delhi has become ₹ 3,113.50.

CNG prices also caught fire three times back-to-back

In this environment of global tension and war, while on one hand the prices of petrol, diesel and LPG are increasing, on the other hand the prices of CNG are also continuously touching the sky. Recently on Saturday, CNG prices were increased by ₹ 1 per kg, which is the third major increase in less than 10 days. For drivers, the cost of travel is increasing every day.
