India concludes Ulaanbaatar Open with 8 gold and 9 bronze medals!
On Sunday, Deepak, Dinesh and Sagar Jaglan won a gold medal each, making the tournament very successful for the Indian team. India finished second behind Russia in the men’s freestyle team rankings and won the historic overall team championship in the Greco-Roman division with 119 points. The women’s wrestling team also performed brilliantly and won 7 medals and strengthened the overall ranking of the country.
Talking about individual performance on the last day, Deepak won the 61 kg freestyle gold medal by defeating Asil Aitakin of Kazakhstan 6-0. Dinesh won the 125 kg gold by defeating Kazakhstan’s Yedige Kasymbek 2-0, while Sagar Jaglan won the 74 kg gold by defeating Russia’s Tamir Eshinimaev 3-2. The success of the freestyle team was further enhanced by four bronze medals of Sumit (57 kg), Kumar Mohit (65 kg), Jaideep (74 kg) and Vicky (97 kg).
Earlier in the tournament, the Greco-Roman team had completed its campaign with two gold medals for Sunil (87 kg) and Nitish (97 kg) and a bronze medal for Sahil (60 kg). India added seven more medals to its total medal tally in women’s wrestling. Among these, Manisha (57 kg), Neha (59 kg) and Kajal (76 kg) won gold medals, while Neelam (50 kg), Hansika Lamba (55 kg), Mansi (62 kg) and Priya (76 kg) won bronze medals.
