Horrific road accident in Haveri: Traveler collides with parked lorry, 17 injured; 5 are in critical condition
Haveri. A tragic road accident occurred in Karnataka’s Haveri district on Tuesday morning, in which 17 people were injured. The condition of 5 of these is said to be serious. All the injured have been admitted to the hospital, where their treatment is ongoing.
Accident happened on National Highway-48-
According to the information, this accident took place on National Highway-48 near Kunimellalli village of Savanur taluk of Haveri district. A traveler vehicle collided with a lorry parked on the roadside. The collision was so strong that the front part of the Traveler was completely damaged.
After the accident, there was chaos on the spot and the area echoed with the screams of the passengers. Local people and passers-by present nearby immediately started relief work, took the injured out of the vehicle and informed the police.
The family had gone from Bengaluru to visit the temple-
It is being told that 17 members of the same family were traveling in the Traveller, who were going from Whitefield, Bengaluru to visit Saundatti Yellamma Temple. Women and children were also included in the vehicle.
In this accident, 5 people were seriously injured, while 12 people suffered minor injuries.
Treatment of the injured continues in the hospital-
The seriously injured include Ramesh Gundappa (50), Narayanamma (65), Gaganasree (20) and Lakshmamma (45). All the injured were first taken to Haveri District Hospital, from where serious patients were referred to KIMS Hospital in Hubli for better treatment.
Police engaged in investigation-
On receiving the information, Savanur police reached the spot and controlled the situation. Due to the accident, there was a traffic jam on the highway for some time, which was later normalized by the police.
At present, a case has been registered at Savanur police station and the police is investigating the cause of the accident.
