A massive bomb blast on the railway track in Quetta, Pakistan, 24 killed, more than 50 injured, army personnel were also on board the train.

Islamabad: At least 24 people have died, while more than 50 have been injured in a massive explosion on the railway line on Sunday in Quetta, the capital of Pakistan’s Balochistan province. Army soldiers and their families were also present in the train at the time of the attack.

The blast occurred when the train was crossing a signal in Chaman Fatak area of ​​Quetta. According to officials, a coach of the train was badly damaged after it collided with an explosive-laden compartment. Many soldiers are among the dead. The army personnel were going to Peshawar with their families on Eid holidays.

The intensity of the blast was so high that windows of nearby buildings were shattered and many vehicles were damaged. Rescue work is going on at the spot to rescue people trapped under the debris. Emergency has been declared in government hospitals of Quetta and medical staff have been immediately called on duty.

Pakistan Railways has strongly condemned this attack, calling it a cowardly terrorist act. The Railway Minister has given instructions to immediately send teams to the spot for relief and rescue operations. Security forces have been kept on high alert.

Balochistan is considered to be the largest but most backward province of Pakistan, where separatist groups have been active for a long time.
