A total of 118.99 crore telecom subscribers registered in the country by December 2024 Gujarati

According to TRAI report, the total telephone subscriber base in India has increased to 118.99 crore in December 2024, with Jio adding the highest number of subscribers in both mobile and fixed line segments. According to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), the total telephone subscribers in November were 118.71 crore. Reliance Jio Infocomm is leading with 47.65 crore subscribers, followed by Bharti Airtel with 28.93 crore and Vodafone Idea with 12.63 crore subscribers.

Urban telephone subscribers increased from 65.98 crore in November to 66.33 crore in December, while rural subscribers decreased from 52.72 crore to 52.65 crore. The number of wireless subscribers increased from 114.86 crore in November 2024 to 115.06 crore in December 2024, showing a monthly growth rate of 0.17 percent. Wireless connection density increased to 81.67 percent at the end of December, which was 81.59 percent at the end of November.

Meanwhile, Reliance Jio added 39,06,123 wireless subscribers, while Bharti Airtel added 10,33,009 subscribers. According to the data, Vodafone Idea lost 17,15,975 wireless subscribers. Apart from this, BSNL and MTNL also lost 3,16,599 and 8,96,988 wireless subscribers respectively. Private access service providers had 91.92 percent share in wireless subscribers, while BSNL and MTNL had a market share of only 8.08 percent.
