AAP MP raises Punjab flood issue in Lok Sabha, demands relief package of Rs 50,000 crore from Center for flood victims

Punjab :After the devastating floods in Punjab, Aam Aadmi Party raised a big issue in the Lok Sabha, accusing the Central Government of serious negligence. Anandpur Sahib MP Malvinder Singh Kang said that two months have passed, but more than 2,500 villages badly affected by the floods have not received even a single rupee of assistance from the central government. He claimed that there was widespread devastation in six districts and more than 5 lakh acres of crops were destroyed.

Border districts suffer the most
Let us tell you that MP Kang said that the biggest impact was on those border districts, where the people had protected the country along with the army during ‘Operation Sandur’. He said that the Prime Minister and many Union Ministers had come to Punjab to take stock of the situation, but till now neither any relief package has been approved nor any direct assistance has been received in the name of disaster management. The families affected by this are not in a position to start their lives again.

Questions on Centre’s policies, reference to electoral states
Accusing the BJP government at the Center of discrimination, Kang said that packages worth thousands of crores of rupees are announced for election-bound states, but a contributing state like Punjab was ignored at the time of crisis. He described it as the “biggest injustice” and said that Punjab has made sacrifices for the nation on every front, from the country’s freedom struggle to agricultural production.

Taunt on Haryana-Rajasthan also, immediate demand of Rs 50,000 crore
Kang also put the Haryana and Rajasthan governments in the dock, saying that they lay claim to Punjab when it comes to sharing of water, but show neither cooperation nor relief at the time of disaster. He urged the Lok Sabha that the Center should immediately release a special relief package of Rs 50,000 crore so that the damaged houses, hospitals, roads and infrastructure can be rebuilt. He said that this help is especially necessary for the citizens living in border areas, who contribute to the security of the country in difficult circumstances.
