Video-Delhi Airport: Ground equipment washed away in storm, 3 Air India planes damaged in collision

New Delhi: A sudden strong storm and torrential rain in Delhi on Sunday evening has caused huge damage to Terminal-2 of Indira Gandhi International Airport. Due to strong winds, the ground support vehicles and machines parked on the runway slipped from their place and collided with three narrowbody airplanes of Air India parked there. All three aircraft were damaged in this collision, after which they were immediately taken out of service.

The storm came without warning, other airlines also suffered losses!

The surprising thing is that these ground equipment belonged to two different companies (Air India Engineering and Indigo) which got swept away by the speed of the storm and collided with the planes. According to the airport operator, there was no prior warning from the air traffic control about the sudden change in weather, due to which the airlines did not get a chance to recover. According to sources, ships of other airlines have also been hit by this bad weather.

Air India has not yet given any official statement on this matter. However, if media reports are to be believed, two of the three damaged aircraft will be repaired soon and will be made ready for flight, while the third aircraft may take a little more time to be completely repaired.
