Airtel dealt a blow: cheap prepaid plans of Rs 121 and Rs 181 quietly closed
Affordable Recharge Plans: Country’s leading telecom company Airtel In a big blow to the customers, it has discontinued its two affordable prepaid recharge plans of Rs 121 and Rs 181 without any official announcement. Both these plans were especially popular among users who wanted 30 days validity and ample data at a low price. Experts believe that “Companies are pushing users towards expensive options by removing cheap plans, tariff hike is being done without increasing the price.”
Rs 121 plan: What were the benefits?
According to the report of Telecom Talk, a total of 8GB data was available in this Rs 121 plan of Airtel. Out of this, 6GB was base data and the remaining 2GB data was given extra on recharge through Airtel Thanks App. This plan came with a full validity of 30 days, making it a great option for budget users.
Rs 181 plan: High-speed data and OTT benefits
Airtel’s Rs 181 plan gave users the benefit of 30 days validity, 15GB high-speed data, and OTT apps. The most important thing was that in this plan, customers also got 30 days free access to Airtel Xstream Play Premium. This plan was considered affordable and beneficial for prepaid users who like OTT content.

Now only 4 plans left: Users’ expenses increased
After the closure of Rs 121 and Rs 181 plans, Airtel now has only four data packs left with a validity of 30 days. Their prices are Rs 100, Rs 161, Rs 195 and Rs 361.
- Rs 100 plan: 30 days, 6GB data + free access to over 20 OTT apps
- Rs 161 plan: 30 days, 12GB data
- Rs 195 plan: 12GB data + one month Jio Hotstar benefit
- Rs 361 plan: 30 days, 50GB high-speed data
Apart from these four options, now users are no longer left with any cheaper option, due to which many customers have expressed their displeasure on social media.
