Allahabad High Court’s strict order – If there is a need to cut one tree, cut it only after planting two
The Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court, in view of the need for felling of trees for construction of borewells and over head tanks under Jal Shakti Mission, has ordered that where felling of one tree is mandatory, the authorities shall plant two trees instead of one and Ensure proper care of it, the court said that any tree should be cut only after the permission of the Forest Department.
If it is necessary to remove a tree, two trees should be planted instead of one.
On behalf of the state government, it was replied to the petition that till now one neem, three chilwal and one badhal tree, whose age was about two years, have been removed from the said land. It was said that apart from this, no tree has been felled so far and no other tree needs to be felled for the construction work. The court, while disposing of the petition after this reply, ordered that if it is necessary to remove any tree, then two trees should be planted in place of one.
