In the midst of the Ukraine-Russia war, the US and Germany are now set to announce that they will provide Kyiv with their main battle tanks to counter Moscow. An agreement has been reached between the two countries to provide powerful weapons. There is a possibility that on Wednesday both countries may announce the delivery of Leopard-2 tanks and M1 Abrams tanks to Ukraine.
According to reports, the Biden administration is expected to announce on Wednesday that it will offer M1 Abrams tanks to Ukraine. Germany stressed that it did not want to be the only country to provide such tanks. He will send 14 A6 tanks of the Leopard-1 series to Ukraine.
This move by the US and Russia will boost Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s forces and give them new offensive capabilities. Because now the fighting in Ukraine has shifted east from the urban centers where the Russian offensive took place on 24 February.
It is expected that with these tanks Ukraine will now be able to attack the Russian army from a distance and resist Russian attacks. Ukrainian military officials fear that Russia may be planning a new invasion of Ukraine after the winter. They also hope that by acquiring these tanks, they can thwart Russia’s plans.
The decision by the US and Germany will help bridge the gap between NATO countries, which are divided on the issue of sending tanks. Now other European countries can also move forward on the issue of sending tanks. NATO is already working on a war strategy to isolate Russian President Putin from the rest of the world.
