The company’s Android 17 development timeline is reportedly similar to last year’s schedule. OnePlus skipped the first beta release and directly rolled out Beta 2 in April, followed by another beta release in May.

The early developer preview builds are not expected to include the new OxygenOS version until around October. By then, the software is likely to be close to public release with the OxygenOS 17 skin.

Since Android 17 stable is also expected around June, reports suggest OnePlus may begin the OxygenOS 17 beta program in October, while the stable rollout could start in early November.

Features Expected in OxygenOS 17

Although OnePlus has not officially revealed the upcoming features, early leaks indicate major improvements in overall smoothness and performance.

Leaks suggest that OxygenOS 17 may offer smoother zooming for both photos and videos. It is also expected to reduce lag, screen flickering and UI frame drops while improving scrolling smoothness.

The update may further optimise power efficiency for smaller tasks, along with improvements in CPU usage, background app management, app launch speed and battery consumption.

Apart from internal optimisations, OxygenOS 17 is also expected to bring new visual improvements, additional features and upgraded AI capabilities.

The final update will also include Android 17 features developed by Google. These may include native app lock support, floating bubble support for all apps, a more powerful screen recorder, redesigned privacy indicators, limited contact access for apps and seamless task continuity.
