Alto car explodes in Gurdaspur, four youths from Pathankot die

Gurdaspur. Four youths traveling in an Alto car died on the spot in a horrific road accident on the National Highway in Gurdaspur, Punjab, early Tuesday morning. The accident was so terrible that the car was blown apart and all four youths got badly trapped inside the car.

According to eyewitnesses, a loud explosion was heard at around 4 in the morning, after which people nearby reached the spot and informed the police. After the accident, the police cut the body of the car with the help of a cutter and took out the bodies.

It is being told that all four youths were falling on top of each other. According to the people present at the spot, bodies of two youths were found in the back seat, one of which was stuck between the two seats, while the other was lying on top of it.

The two youths sitting in front also fell on top of each other and were badly trapped in the car. According to the police, one of the deceased has been identified as 31-year-old Vikram alias Vicky, resident of Teacher Colony, Bhadroa.

He worked in the showroom of Sleepwell Mattress in Pathankot. Vicky had gone for a walk with his friends a few days ago. He was the father of two children.

According to family members, before the accident, Vicky had called his wife and told her that he would reach home late in the morning and iron her clothes before going to work. The family did not even know with which friends he had gone.

The police have taken possession of all four bodies and sent them for post-mortem. All the youths are said to be residents of Pathankot, although the identity of three other deceased has not been identified yet.

ASI Daljeet Singh said that how the accident happened is being investigated. In the initial investigation, it is suspected that the speeding Alto car might have collided from behind with some unknown heavy vehicle, such as a truck or trolley. The police has started the investigation
