Apart from this, Ashwin can also break Zaheer Khan's record of taking most wickets against Bangladesh during the Kanpur Test. Zaheer had till now taken 31 wickets against Bangladesh while Ashwin had taken 29 wickets, so if he takes 3 wickets, he will overtake Zaheer. Ashwin can also break Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood's record of taking most wickets in the World Test Championship (WTC) during the Kanpur Test. Hazlewood took 52 wickets in the WTC 2023-25 ​​cycle. Nathan Lyon has the most wickets in the WTC so far with 187 wickets.


If Ashwin takes 8 wickets in Kanpur, he will overtake Lion. Spinner Ashwin can also leave Lion behind in terms of taking most wickets in Test cricket. Ashwin has 522 wickets in his name in Test matches while Lion has 530 wickets in his name. Ashwin needs 9 wickets to overtake Nathan Lyon.
