Brisbane, Sri Lankan great off-spinner Muttiah Muralitharan has said that India’s Ravichandran Ashwin can take 700-800 wickets in Tests. Muralitharan also said that Nathan Lyon of Australia might not reach there.
Muralitharan said while talking with Michael Vaughan of Fox Sports, “Ashwin has a great chance because he is a great bowler.” Also, I don’t think any young bowler can go up to 800.
He said, Nathan Lyon might not be enough to get there. He is close to 400 but he will have to play a lot more matches to get there.
Lion will participate in the Test match against India starting in Gabba from Friday which will be the 100th Test match of his career.
At the same time, former leg-spinner Shane Warne of Lion feels that Lion can take 600-650 wickets.
Warne wrote in his column in the Herald Sun, “If he keeps himself free from injuries, I think he can play another five years.” This means that he will take 50 Test matches and play and if he takes four wickets in every match then there are 200 more wickets, it can be 250.
