Tehran, May 24. Pakistan’s Field Marshal Asim Munir arrived in Tehran in connection with talks related to permanent ceasefire between the US and Iran, where he met Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian, Foreign Minister Syed Abbas Araghchi and Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf. According to Iran’s IRIB report, CDF Munir has also met Iran’s parliamentary speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf. Al Arabiya quoted informed sources as saying that Munir had sent America’s messages to Tehran and those messages also included threats to restart the war.

According to Mehr News, Iran’s president said that “the record and experience of negotiations with the Americans show that we should exercise great caution.” Pejeshkian, during his meeting with Munir, began his talk by emphasizing the need for Islamic unity. He stressed that the Islamic Republic of Iran has indeed demonstrated its commitment to the international legal framework. Iranian President Pezeshkian stressed, “We are simply trying to actualize our country’s legitimate and legal rights, but the record and experience of negotiations with the Americans show that we must be very careful.”

Referring to Iranians’ loss of trust in the US due to repeated broken promises, attacks during talks and killings of officials, the President said, “Under such circumstances, Iran is on the path of dialogue, relying on brotherly relations with friendly countries like Pakistan, but our main objective is simply to secure the interests of the Iranian country with the right solution.” He said that America will not win this fight; Rather, the region and the countries of the world will suffer serious losses. The Jewish regime is the only party that wants to secure its gains in the region through war.”

On the other hand, Munir said that Israel finds its benefit in fights and differences among Muslims. Pakistan only wants to create stability and prevent war from continuing and recurring in the region. The army said in a statement that Asim Munir has completed a short but very fruitful tour of Iran. During this visit he held high level meetings with the Iranian leadership.

The statement said talks over the past 24 hours have made good progress toward a final agreement. Apart from this, according to Pakistan TV report, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met Iran’s Agriculture Minister Gholamreza Nouri Ghazelzeh in Tehran.
