Assembly Bypolls: Voting continues in 13 assembly seats of 7 states including Rupauli in Bihar, competition between NDA and India Alliance

Patna: Voting has started in Rupauli assembly seat of Purnia. There is a contest between RJD candidate Bima Bharti and JDU candidate Kaladhar Mandal on this seat. Here the prestige of Nitish Kumar and Tejashwi Yadav is at stake. Bima Bharti, who was an MLA from JDU, resigned from JDU and MLA post after getting a ticket from RJD in Lok Sabha elections and contested Lok Sabha elections on RJD ticket but lost badly. RJD has given ticket to Bima Bharti in assembly by-election which has become a question of prestige for Tejashwi, while Nitish Kumar has changed his candidate in the by-election.

Apart from Rupauli, voting is being held today in Amarwara in Madhya Pradesh, Badrinath and Mangalore in Uttarakhand, Jalandhar West in Punjab, Raiganj, Ranaghat South, Bagda, Maniktala in Bengal, Vikravandi seat in Tamil Nadu as well as Dehra, Hamirpur and Nalagarh seats in Himachal Pradesh. The notification for by-elections on these seats was issued on June 14, the last date for nomination was June 21. Scrutiny was completed on June 24. The last date for withdrawal of nomination was fixed as June 26. The results of this election will come on July 13.
