An avalanche from Kuber Bhandar peak struck the upper catchment of Kanchan Ganga, about two kilometres ahead of the Badrinath shrine in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district on Sunday morning.
Officials confirmed that the incident caused no casualties or property damage.
Authorities said the snow debris stopped within a valley area and did not reach the Badrinath National Highway. Vehicular movement continued normally, and daily life in the region remained unaffected.
Chamoli District Magistrate Gaurav Kumar described avalanches in snow-covered mountainous regions as natural occurrences. He assured that the administration is continuously monitoring the area.
Several visuals of the avalanche circulated on social media, prompting officials to urge people not to believe rumours. They advised residents and pilgrims to rely only on official updates issued by the district administration.
