According to the list of holidays of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), banks are closed on every Sunday and the second and fourth Saturday of the month. During this period, there is no work in banks across the country. Apart from this, bank holidays also vary from state to state depending on regional and national festivals. Banks will remain closed for four days including Saturday and Sunday in the next week. The two bank holidays may vary from region to region.
Where will be the holiday on 9th and 12th?
All government banks will remain closed in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram on 9 December. That means there will be a bank holiday in Kerala on this day. The bank holiday has been decided due to the general elections of Local Government Institutions 2025. Apart from these two places, banks will remain open in the rest of the country on Tuesday. There will be a bank holiday in Meghalaya on 12th December. Banks will remain closed in Shillong on the occasion of the death anniversary of Pa Togan Nengminja Sangma. Apart from this, functioning of banks across the country will continue as normal on Friday.

18 holidays in this month
After this, banks will remain closed across the country on 13th September. Actually, it will be the second Saturday of the month. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has made bank holidays mandatory on the second and fourth Saturday of every month. Along with this, there will be bank holiday on Sunday also. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced 18 days of bank holidays in December 2025. Many of these vary by state. Due to Christmas on 25th December, banks are going to remain closed across the country. Many other holidays will be applicable only in certain cities. Bank customers are advised to check the local timings before visiting the branch. However, ATMs will remain open during holidays. UPI and internet banking services will remain restored.
