Batwara 1947 First Look: First look of Aamir Khan’s ‘Batwara 1947’ released, Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta will be seen together

Batwara 1947 First Look : After months of speculation, the makers of Sunny Deol’s much-awaited period drama have officially confirmed a major change. The film, which was earlier known as ‘Lahore 1947’, will now be released with the title ‘Partition 1947’. The makers have recently released the first look of ‘Batwara 1947’. The motion poster of this film starring Sunny Deol, Shabana Azmi, Preity Zinta and Karan Deol looks interesting.

Aamir Khan Productions and Sunny Deol shared the teaser announcing the title on Instagram and wrote in the caption: “In an environment of hate and fear, they chose courage. Watch #Partition1947 in theaters from 14th August 2026.” Along with this announcement, the team has also released a stunning motion poster, which gives the first glimpse of the partition-era story and confirms the theatrical release date of the film. The motion poster released begins with the line: “In an environment of hatred and fear, she chose courage.” Moments later, a fiery red streak appears on the screen, cutting through both the text and the map.

This burning line of partition shows a powerful scene of divisions and lays the foundation for the main story or conflict of the film. The audience then sees Sunny Deol’s character, who is running along a steam train amidst chaos, fire and a running crowd. Other characters like Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi and Karan Deol are also seen briefly amidst the flames. The motion poster concludes with a powerful image of Sunny standing at the center holding a burning torch. Behind him Preeti and Karan look scared. The title Batwara 1947 is then revealed.

Let us tell you that this film is based on Asghar Wajahat’s famous play ‘Jis Lahore Nai Dekhya, O Jamya E Nai’. The play deals with issues like identity, displacement and humanity after Partition. ‘Partition 1947’ is directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and produced by Aamir Khan under Aamir Khan Productions. The pair of Santoshi and Sunny Deol are coming together again through this film; Before this, they have worked together in great films like ‘Ghayal’, ‘Damini’ and ‘Ghatak’. The star cast of the film includes Sunny Deol, Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi, Karan Deol and Ali Fazal. Its music is composed by A.R. Rahman and the lyrics of the song are written by Javed Akhtar.
