BCCI excludes more than 1000 players before IPL 2026 auction

New Delhi: The mini auction for IPL 2026 is around the corner. BCCI has released the final list of players, in which only 350 players have been included.

Initially more than 1350 players had registered, but now the dream of more than 1000 players to play in IPL has been shattered this time. He has already been thrown out of the auction.

Only 350 players got place

BCCI took advice from all the 10 franchise teams as to which players they would like to see in the auction. After this the board shortened the list. Initially there was a list of 1355 players, but now only 350 players will be up for bidding. These also include some new names which were not able to be registered earlier.

Quinton de Kock’s surprise entry

The biggest surprise in this list is the name of South African wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton De Kock. They were not initially registered, but their names were added later on the demand of some franchise teams.

The base price of decock has been kept at Rs 1 crore. In the last mega auction, Kolkata Knight Riders bought him for Rs 2 crore, but this time KKR released him.

Many new faces from Sri Lanka and South Africa

The new list includes several young players from Sri Lanka, including Travin Mathew, Binura Fernando, Kusal Perera and Dunith Velez. Players like George Linde, Connor Esterhuizen and Bayanda Majola are also associated with South Africa. Afghanistan’s Arab Gul and West Indies’ Akeem Auguste are also among the new names.

Many Indian young players also got a chance

The Indian players include many new faces like Vishnu Solanki, Sadek Hussain, Sabir Khan, Brijesh Sharma, Kanishk Chauhan, Aaron George, Madhav Bajaj, Yashraj Punja, Parikshit Valsangkar, Rishabh Chauhan and Aman Shekhawat. These players are mainly outstanding performers in domestic cricket.

When and where will the auction take place?

The IPL 2026 mini auction will be held on 16 December 2025 at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. It will start at 2:30 pm Indian time. Capped players will be bid first, followed by uncapped players.
