Binny and Family: This film of mine is my tribute to my hometown Bihar, said director Sanjay Tripathi.

Binny and Family: Sanjay Tripathi’s name comes from Petiya in Bihar, which he has also used in the story of his film. And talking to Petya on her Bollywood journey, which is a story I wrote, so I talked about my parents’ story, who hails from Bihar. I felt very strongly about it, so I decided to make a film out of it. My story is that I had to come to Bihar. He would ask me to say it like this and we would talk a lot about ‘where did Kya ji go’ at our place. I am a Bihari myself, so I had written it in the script and it was my responsibility to bring that tone to the conversation. Pankajji has shot it well in a way, this film is my tribute to my hometown. Now there is no need to shoot in other states to show Bihar and Patna but recently shot in Lucknow and Malihabat Bihar Govt. I hope the situation will change. Producers and directors will be attracted to shoot in Bihar as well. Bihar has many good places to visit. People there are very nice. People think he will disrupt the shoot. I think there was some problem in the beginning, but now that situation has subsided. Anjini has been cast on her own merits, we cast someone else before this film. She is also a new girl, but for some reason two months before she could shoot, we had to change the main character. And then our search started, we needed a new girl, so the audience started to think of her as Pinny in the first scene. The casting agency showed us two or three options. After playing Varun Dhawan’s daughter-in-law and Anil Dhawan’s granddaughter, we get to know that the son of a doctor is his favorite. A boy or a girl who has worked hard to become a BMD, AIIMS doctor, doctor’s son and ignore his talent by merit. She was self employed for 2 years. If you look at her Instagram account, you will know that she attends dance classes. He has done many acting classes. We read it with Pankaj Kapoor ji before going for the shoot. We say, sir, before they do a reading, speak only four lines, Pankaj sir. Let’s have coffee. Pankaj Ji’s validation is huge because of his surname, we can’t ignore his talent. I wanted to work with Pankaj sir right from the first film to cast Pankaj ji in my first film Club 60. Pankaj ji also liked the script. He wanted to play Raghubir Yadav’s character, but it didn’t work out. I had decided to make a film with him. As soon as the script of Binny and the family is finished. I approached him. He also said that he will like this script and do it. This film took a lot of time to make. Covid came and casting problem also came but Pankaj sir was always with me. Although our film with Devra is not competing, I think one Friday is enough for two films. We need to reach our audience and they need to reach their audience, however, our release date is being pushed. The film was originally scheduled to release on 20 September, but in the meantime, Vishal Mishra saw the film and felt that a song should be included in the film, so he composed a song. Although the release of the film was delayed a bit, we thought that the song should be in the film. After watching the shooting of Thamul, I decided to join a lot of theater during my school days. I wanted to be an actor as a child. Manoj Bajpai is my senior. I also studied in R School of Petia. In 1982, I was also in the shooting of Delhi Ramjas and Thamul in the same college. After returning from there, it seemed that we should go in this line. My father didn’t stop me for anything in Bihar, if you have to go in this line, go the right way. By then I had failed the Civil Services Examination twice. I thought I should study cinema again. I decided to go the other way. I started writing articles. From print, I moved to sound media and then I was always improving myself. I had produced a show for Doordarshan from where I experienced audio visuals for the first time. I usually write by myself. I will voice myself and send it to Doordarshan myself. In 1996 I started my own production company and hosted a show called Turning Point. Then I produced several documentaries for National Geographic, BBC, Discovery, which were highly appreciated. Then there was meaning in coming to fiction. You should come to Mumbai. After that he came to Mumbai in 2008. So far, after coming to Mumbai from Delhi, I produced a Marathi show called Antarbad for Star Prava. After that I made a 52-episode serial called Hum for Doordarshan. After that I wrote and produced Club 60. I learned a lot from that film, and after that film, it took time to make another film, because after that film, after I had done it for a few years, TV became my cup, no tea, and I wrote the story of Binny and the family. Always connected with Bihar. A festive atmosphere prevailed throughout the family during Sat Puja. Wearing new clothes and eating tekua. I have never felt such a festive mood from Diwali to Saad when I wake up at dawn and go to the Ghat. The whole family, all their children, we got together. Bathing in the river. The feeling is very special when walking in the fields. The post Binny and Family: My film is my tribute to my hometown Bihar, said director Sanjay Tripathi.
