But now in this direction the Central Government has brought a golden opportunity for its selected employees. These employees are going to get one time option to switch from New Pension System to Old Pension Scheme (Switch NPS to OPS).
Recently Congress ruled states like Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Himachal Pradesh have re-implemented the old pension scheme. Due to this, there has been a dispute between the state governments and the central government regarding the demand of the amount deposited in NPS from the central government.

The Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW) issued an official letter on Friday. This pertains to the eligibility of those likely to switch to the old pension scheme. The DoPPW memorandum states that if any civil servant in the Central Government is appointed before the date of notification of the New Pension Scheme i.e. before December 22, 2003. They will get an opportunity to opt for Old Pension Scheme (CCS Pension Rules 1972) only once depending on the vacancy or advertisement. However, for this they should have joined on or after 1st April 2004 and should be covered under the National Pension System.
