Mitchell Starc crossed all limits, started explaining rules and regulations on KL Rahul's wicket, didn't even feel ashamed
Cricket News Desk. Australia's senior fast bowler Mitchell Starc reacted to the controversial catch of KL Rahul. Mitchell Starc said that according to the rules it was a normal wicket. Rahul's dismissal sparked controversy and former players from both countries questioned the third umpire's decision to overturn the on-field umpire's 'not out' decision.
On-field umpire Richard Kettleborough gave the decision in favor of Rahul but the host team took DRS. Third umpire Richard Illingworth changed the decision without seeing the 'split screen view'. The 'split screen view' would make it clear to them whether Starc's ball actually hit the bat or whether 'Snikko' heard the sound of the bat hitting the pad.
Starc called KL Rahul's wicket correct
“The decision has definitely been overturned,” Stark said at a news conference. But I felt that this was a wicket taken as per the rules. I thought it was a routine wicket because of its timing. Starc (two wickets for 14 runs) took the first wicket of the series by dismissing Yashasvi Jaiswal. Starc said, 'I think there was very good bowling today. Naturally there was a lot of movement in the wicket and perhaps it felt as if it was a 'hardball' wicket.
He said, 'When the ball started becoming a little 'soft' towards the end of the Indian innings, perhaps it was not that effective. The pitch still helped but was not as effective as the new 'hardball'. Starc said, 'I think teams should pay attention to the fact in the second innings that if you remain calm in difficult times then it will be easier to bat. The outfield is very slow so scoring runs was a bit difficult. It's been a long time since we've seen an outfield this slow.
