Halogen headlamp or LED light, which headlight will be best for car in winter? Take care otherwise there will be trouble

Auto News Desk – LED headlights are quite popular these days in the auto industry around the world. LED headlamps used to be a premium feature and were available only in high-end cars, but over the last few years, these headlights have made their way into lower-priced mass-market cars as well. However, LED headlamps are still available only in the higher trims of these mass-market cars. But there is a wide range of LED headlamps available in the aftermarket, allowing car owners to fit them in their vehicles even if the company does not offer this feature. While halogen headlamps that emit yellow light are becoming obsolete, LEDs that emit white light are rapidly replacing them.

Are LED headlamps better in terms of illumination?
LED headlamps usually provide better illumination than halogens, but not always. In some situations, halogen headlamps provide better visibility than LEDs. Especially, during the rainy season or fog. In such situations, white LED headlamps can cause discomfort to the driver. Because in such weather, LEDs reduce visibility instead of improving it. Therefore, replacing your car's halogen lamps with LEDs may not always be a good idea.

Additionally, LED headlamps are brighter than halogen headlamps. LED chips emit 100 percent luminous intensity along the center axis and this intensity decreases as distance from the center axis increases. The smaller size of LED chips makes the light focusing process more effective than halogen lamps. Because of this, it creates glare in the eyes of drivers coming from opposite directions. Due to which accidents can also occur.

ineffective in rain and fog
White LED headlights often become ineffective in rain and fog. In foggy weather or during heavy rain, white LED headlamps often cause visibility problems for drivers. Whereas yellow colored halogen lights provide better visibility to drivers in such weather. This is a special reason why automakers provide yellow colored lamps for fog lamps in most cars.
