CM Yogi Action: Yogi is a big hunter on land and revenue disputes in UP, officers will be punished for negligence!
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken a very tough stance regarding matters related to land and revenue in the state. The Chief Minister has given instructions in clear words that disposal of revenue cases quickly, transparently and with full quality should be included among the biggest priorities of the government. He bluntly said that the disputes related to land and revenue are directly related to the lives of the common people, the interests of farmers and the mutual harmony of the society. Therefore, unnecessary delay at any stage in these matters will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
The Chief Minister has specifically cautioned the officers that the cases which are pending for more than the stipulated time limit, should be resolved on priority basis by running a special campaign. He ordered that these cases should be regularly reviewed at the tehsil and district level and accountability of the officers of the districts where poor performance is found should be fixed. The Chief Minister made it clear that the work of Revenue Courts should not be limited only to paper data, but the general public should get its real benefits on the ground.
These districts won in Section 80 cases, these are the laggards
In the high-level meeting, officials told the Chief Minister that a huge decline has been seen in the pending cases under Section 80 (non-agricultural use of agricultural land) through the RCCMS portal. According to the data, a total of 85,158 cases were pending under this section on January 1, 2026, out of which 77,578 were disposed of. At the same time, by May 22, 2026, this number further reduced to only 38,166, out of which 29,543 cases have been successfully resolved. It is a matter of relief that the pending cases more than three months old are continuously decreasing. In this case, Basti, Chitrakoot, Ayodhya, Baghpat and Kannauj districts have performed best, while the performance of Meerut, Varanasi, Amethi, Gautam Buddha Nagar and Hapur has been very weak.
Lakhs of cases settled under Section 34, CM angry at slow pace of these districts
Information also came to light in the meeting that a huge reduction has been registered in the cases pending under Section 34 (filed-dismissed). At the beginning of the year i.e. on January 1, 2026, a total of 22,44,466 cases were pending, which reduced to only 10,59,139 by May 22, 2026 due to the activeness of the authorities. A record 5,40,945 cases were disposed of in this short period. Talking about performance, Bareilly, Rampur, Moradabad, Aligarh and Badaun have done the best work on this front. On the contrary, districts like Gorakhpur, Sant Kabirnagar, Pratapgarh, Ballia and Deoria could not show progress as per expectations, on which the Chief Minister expressed displeasure and directed to run a special campaign in these districts.
No need to wait for inheritance, work will be done in due time
During the review of undisputed inheritance cases under Section 33, officials said that a total of 16,89,732 applications were received in the year 2025, out of which 16,43,104 were disposed of on time. Similarly, out of 7,15,872 new applications received till May 22, 2026, 6,52,512 have been disposed of. On this, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath gave strict instructions that common citizens should not have to visit offices for heritage related work and all cases should be ensured to be settled in a time bound manner.
Reduction of more than half in cases of metering under Section 24
In the review of land measurement i.e. Section 24 cases, it was revealed that a total of 1,82,710 cases were pending in the state on January 1, 2026, which has reduced to 92,915 by May 22, 2026 due to the efforts of the officials. In this category, Varanasi, Kushinagar, Mainpuri, Balrampur and Hamirpur districts have done excellent work. On the other hand, the performance of Gautam Buddha Nagar, Lucknow, Pratapgarh, Amethi and Muzaffarnagar was not satisfactory. The Chief Minister has instructed the senior officials to take up the responsibility themselves and do regular monitoring in these backward districts.
Separate list will be made for years old cases, time limit will be fixed
Talking about the cases of land distribution i.e. Section 116, it was told that 1,69,693 cases were pending in January 2026, which has come down to 1,14,479 by May 22, 2026. In this, Varanasi, Etah, Azamgarh, Lakhimpur Kheri and Maharajganj did well, while Pratapgarh, Muzaffarnagar, Kanpur Nagar, Gonda and Ballia were left far behind. The Chief Minister said that a separate list of old cases which have been gathering dust in the revenue courts for years should be prepared and a special strategy should be made to end them.
At the end of the meeting, the Chief Minister in a strict tone told all the Divisional Commissioners and District Magistrates (DMs) connected through video conferencing to settle all the disputes pending in their respective areas by setting a fixed time limit. The Chief Minister’s clear message was that the functioning of revenue administration should be such that public trust in the government system is strengthened and no poor or farmer has to wait unnecessarily to get justice.
