CM Yogi’s order, big relief for electricity consumers

Lucknow. The demand for electricity has reached record levels amid the scorching heat in Uttar Pradesh. At such a time, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has issued strict and clear instructions regarding the electricity system. He has said that there should not be a situation of power crisis anywhere in the state, be it village or city.

Chief Minister keeps a strict eye on the electricity system

CM Yogi warned the officials that any kind of negligence will not be tolerated in complaint redressal, transformer repair and feeder operation. He said that in view of the increasing demand, maximum utilization of power generation capacity should be made and power supply should be ensured from all sources.

Increased production capacity, still vigilance necessary

It was informed in the meeting that the total production capacity of Uttar Pradesh State Electricity Generation Corporation has increased to approximately 13,388 MW. Apart from this, thousands of megawatts of electricity is also being provided from hydropower and other projects. Nevertheless, the Chief Minister clearly said that it is not enough to just increase production, but it is also necessary to strengthen the distribution system.

Emphasis on strengthening the transmission network

CM Yogi directed that the transmission network should be made stronger so that power supply is not disrupted even during storms or extreme heat. Instructions have also been given to fix accountability at the field level and further tighten the feeder-wise monitoring system.

Review of 1912 Helpline and Smart System

CM Yogi also reviewed the ongoing 1912 helpline and smart meter system for consumer complaints. Now, by increasing the capacity of the call centre, a large number of complaints are being resolved every day. He said that consumers should not only be given the facility to lodge complaints but also be given the time limit for resolution.
