Cold storage accident in Sambhal, both owners arrested from Haldwani, 14 died in the accident

Sambhal – After the death of 14 people in the cold storage accident, both the owners of the cold storage have been arrested. Giving information on Saturday, Sambhal District Magistrate Manish Bansal said that cold storage owners Ankur Agarwal and Rohit Agarwal have been arrested from Haldwani in Uttarakhand.

So far, bodies of 11 people have been retrieved from the rubble of a cold store in Chandausi area of ​​Sambhal district in Uttar Pradesh, while five have been hospitalized in critical condition. Six people trapped under the debris have been pulled out safely. Bansal had told on Friday that 14 people have died in this roof collapse incident and 10 people have been rescued safely. He informed that four people are undergoing treatment at a hospital in Moradabad, while 6 have been discharged.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also visited Tirthankar Mahavir Medical College Hospital on Friday evening and met four cold storage workers admitted there and inquired about their health. He instructed the present doctors for proper treatment of the patients.

Mr. Yogi told that those who have tragically died, whose dependents are being given an ex-gratia amount of two lakh rupees, while the injured will be given Rs.50-50 thousand along with free treatment. Apart from this, farmers will be given an amount of five lakh rupees under the Farmers Accident Insurance Scheme.

He said that a committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of Moradabad’s Divisional Commissioner and Deputy Inspector General of Police to investigate the accident. Strict legal action will be taken against whoever is found guilty in the investigation. He said that the relief and rescue work is still going on. For this, along with NDRF and SDRF personnel, local fire brigade and police personnel are working.

District Magistrate Manish Bansal had told on Friday that a chamber of AR cold store had collapsed near village Barahi of Chandausi area in Kotwali area on Thursday afternoon, many farmers and laborers were buried under the debris and sacks of potatoes. So far 22 people have been pulled out of the debris, out of which 11 have died and five are injured. Rescue operation is still going on. During this time the concrete roof has been completely removed and now potato sacks and pallets are being removed.

The deceased have been identified as Rohtash, Rakesh, Istiaq, Prem and two unidentified while Ram Mohan, Roop Singh, Mahesh, Suraj Pal and Rajendra are undergoing treatment at TMU Hospital in Moradabad. Prempal, Arun, Sandu, Manoj, Prem Singh and Narottam have been discharged from the hospital after recovering.
