Cold wave intensified in UP, icy winds increased shivering, Kanpur had the coldest night
Lucknow, 7 December. The period of severe cold continues in UP. The chill has increased due to the effect of cold wave. Kanpur is continuously recording the coldest night in the state. Even in November, Kanpur was witnessing the lowest minimum temperature. After which now it is more cold here in December. According to the Meteorological Department, there may be some increase in the minimum temperature due to the movement of clouds in the state. But this will not provide relief from cold.
North-westerly winds are blowing continuously
North-westerly winds are blowing continuously in UP. At times the effect of south-westerly winds is also visible. Due to which the maximum and minimum temperatures are being recorded below normal. People are feeling cold day and night. However, sunlight is providing relief from the cold during the day. But it is extremely cold at night.
Today’s weather in UP
According to the Meteorological Department, the weather of UP has remained dry for the last several days. Even today the weather is likely to remain clear in both eastern and western parts. Moderate fog may also be present at some places in the morning. However, no warning of any kind has been issued today.
According to IMD, a western disturbance has become active in the Himalayan region. Due to which the temperature has increased due to increase in the amount of high clouds in most parts of the state. Besides, the wind speed also remains slow. But after the clouds disperse, the speed of icy winds will increase and the cold may also increase again.
Mercury will rise in UP due to the effect of clouds
Fluctuations in maximum and minimum temperatures were seen in UP on Saturday. The minimum temperature in many districts was recorded below normal. Due to which an increase in fog and cold is being felt this morning. However, from today till Wednesday the minimum temperature in the state may gradually increase. According to IMD, the minimum temperature in UP may increase by about 2-3 degrees Celsius in the next 3 days. However, there is no possibility of any major change in the maximum temperature. According to the Meteorological Department, cold may increase again in the state after about a week.
5 coldest districts in UP
Kanpur recorded the lowest minimum temperature in UP on Saturday. The minimum temperature here was 5 degrees Celsius, 5.3 degrees below normal. Apart from this, minimum temperature was recorded at 5.6 degrees in Etawah, 5.8 degrees in Muzaffarnagar, 6 degrees in Barabanki and 6 degrees Celsius in Ayodhya. According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature in the last 24 hours was 26.6 degrees in Bahraich. Whereas the maximum temperature was recorded at 26.4 degrees in Kanpur, 26 degrees in Gorakhpur, 25.9 degrees in Varanasi and 25.3 degrees Celsius in Fursatganj.
