CRPF jawans in bad condition due to railway delay, got breakfast at 5 pm

Serious negligence has come to light in the movement arrangements of security forces deployed on election duty. The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has written a letter to the Railway Board saying that the soldiers sent on assembly election duty in five states neither got trains on time nor food on time. In many cases the soldiers received their morning breakfast by 5 pm, as their special trains were delayed by 10 to 25 hours.

This complaint has been made in a detailed letter sent by the Inspector General of CRPF. This letter was sent to the Railway Board during the final stages of the election process. In this, the problems faced by the soldiers deployed in Assam, Kerala, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal have been mentioned in detail.

200 out of 230 trains late

According to the letter, out of 230 special trains run for election duty, about 200 trains arrived late. Of these, more than 150 trains were delayed by 10 to 15 hours, while about 50 trains were delayed by 20 to 25 hours. Due to this huge delay, the food and rest arrangements of the soldiers were directly affected.

Due to the delay, the entire arrangement for food and drink went haywire. Many times the soldiers got their first meal of the day i.e. morning breakfast after 5 pm. IRCTC tried to deliver food on time but due to frequent delays of trains, this system could not work properly.

Dissatisfaction over lack of coaches and poor system

CRPF also stated in its letter that adequate coaches were not provided in many trains. Where 24 coaches were required, only 19 to 20 coaches were given, due to which the soldiers had to travel in extremely crowded conditions. The cleanliness and maintenance of coaches was also found to be poor at many places, due to which all the personnel including women soldiers had to face difficulties.
