Delhi: Agniveer will solve the shortage of personnel in the fire department
Lieutenant Governor TS Sandhu has suggested to take the services of former firefighters to fill the posts lying vacant for a long time in Delhi Fire Service. LG gave this suggestion in the meeting of Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) held on Monday.
In the DDMA meeting, he said that to increase the availability of trained and disciplined human resources, former firefighters can be included in the fire department. According to officials, this will help in removing the shortage of personnel in the department, while the capital will also get the experience of youth already trained to deal with emergency situations. Plans to increase the number of fire stations in Delhi and strengthen disaster response capacity were also reviewed in the meeting.
AI will show the fastest route to fire brigade and ambulance
New Delhi. Delhi Traffic Police is going to implement an artificial intelligence (AI) based traffic management and route mapping system. Through this, in case of fire, accident or other emergency, information about the fastest and least crowded route will be immediately made available to fire vehicles and ambulances. Its purpose is to save those crucial minutes on which often a person’s life and death depend. According to officials, the AI-based system of the traffic police will analyze the live feed and traffic data received from thousands of CCTV cameras and tell how much pressure is there on which route and by which route the emergency vehicles can reach the destination in the shortest time. Better coordination will also be developed between the control rooms of Delhi Police-Fire Service. Additional traffic policemen will also be deployed to clear the road.
Traffic patterns will also be studied
Officials say that the new system will provide instant routes and will also study the traffic patterns of the city. This will help in understanding which areas have the most traffic at which times and which routes can be used as emergency corridors. This will also prepare area-wise emergency response plans in future.
Fire services abroad are connected with technology, data and strong communication networks.
Cities like London, Singapore and New York have linked fire services through technology, data and communication networks. Resources are deployed abroad based on data such as which areas are at greater risk of fire, where new buildings have been built, at what time traffic increases. London fire brigade response times are published publicly. In Singapore, after receiving a call, vehicles are dispatched based not on the nearest station but on the basis of traffic, available resources and risk level.
