Amidst the changing political circumstances of the country and the recent election results, the agitation in the opposition camp in the capital Delhi has suddenly become very intense. A very important and high-profile meeting of 22 major constituent parties of the opposition alliance ‘INDI Alliance’ was held on Monday under the chairmanship of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. In this general meeting held after a long time, the opposition has strongly called for further strengthening mutual coordination and unity. In the meeting, an impenetrable maze has been prepared to corner the BJP government at the Center on serious issues like the serious economic situation of the country, rising unemployment, uncontrolled inflation, plight of farmers and electoral fairness.

The opposition passed the resolution unanimously and demanded the immediate resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge clearly said in the press conference that during the tenure of Dharmendra Pradhan, there has been a direct betrayal of lakhs of promising youth appearing in the two biggest examinations of the country, hence he has no moral right to continue in his post.

Serious concerns were also expressed in the meeting regarding electoral fairness and irregularities in the voter list. Opposition leaders alleged that the crisis on the electoral system is continuously deepening. According to sources, the country’s well-known lawyer and independent Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal, who attended the meeting, gave a big suggestion, which was immediately accepted by all the parties. Under this, a detailed letter will be sent very soon to the Chief Justice of the country (CJI) regarding the serious questions of Special Intensive Revision (SIR), large-scale alleged manipulation in the voter list and ‘vote looting’ that took place during the elections. During the meeting, the draft of this proposed letter was also shared with all the leaders.

After the crushing defeat of Trinamool Congress (TMC) in the Bengal Assembly elections, Mamata Banerjee is suddenly placing a lot of emphasis on the activism and unity of the ‘INDIA’ alliance. During the meeting, the new political situations emerging after the election results of five states were thoroughly reviewed. Opposition leaders alleged that due to the working style of the BJP government, the autonomy of the country’s judiciary, Election Commission and other constitutional institutions is in danger, due to which Indian democracy is in danger.

Now a new and strict rule has been made to maintain mutual cooperation at the grassroots level in the opposition camp. All the constituent parties have agreed that now a mandatory meeting of the alliance will be called every two months, so that an immediate common stand can be taken on the issues. In this series, a decision has also been taken to organize the next big meeting of the alliance in Hyderabad, the capital of Telangana in the month of August. However, in terms of political equations, some differences were also visible in this meeting. Angered by the decision of going with the arch-rival faction of Congress in Tamil Nadu, DMK did not attend this meeting, while Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has completely distanced itself from this alliance since the last Delhi Assembly elections.

The opposition has also increased its strategic alertness regarding the upcoming monsoon session of Parliament. It was decided in the meeting that a strategy meeting would be held every morning in the office of Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge to corner the government and strengthen floor management inside Parliament during the monsoon session. All the big political stalwarts of the country participated in this general meeting held in Delhi, in which Congress Parliamentary Party President Sonia Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav, PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti, CPI’s D Raja, CPI(M)’s Jan Britas and CPIML’s Dipankar Bhattacharya participated prominently.
