In recent India played Bangladesh in a warm-up match for ICC World Cup 2019. The most trending point of this match was Dhoni setting the field for opposition side. From India’s point of view, it was normal but it became a huge controversy. Many former players said that Dhoni has broken the law of ICC and he should be punished and he should be banned from the World Cup. Today we are going to discuss this topic.
Before discussing the rules and laws of ICC we must understand this whole scenario. This was India’s second warm-up game in England. Bangladeshi cricketer Shabbir was bowling to MS Dhoni but as soon as Shabbir took a run-up Dhoni stopped him and he gave a sign that square leg fielder is not on proper position and he was changing his position quite frequently.
So according to reports, Dhoni didn’t set the field for Bangladesh he was just confirming the field as every batsman has a right to check the field before batting. The square leg fielder was changing his position quite frequently because of which Dhoni was getting disturbed. According to ICC rules, a batsman must know the position of the fielder before batting.
No objection was taken from Bangladesh side. So Dhoni might not get ban after this incident but it all depends on how ICC handles this situation. Hope for the best.
