DJ Nicky says Birch Goa fire broke out before her event; shares emotional note after tragedy

In the aftermath of the devastating fire at Birch by Romeo Lane in Goa, DJ Nicky — who was scheduled to perform at the nightclub on the night of the incident — has clarified that the blaze erupted before she reached the venue.

In an Instagram story posted hours after the tragedy, she wrote:

“Hey everyone… Just wanted to let you know I’m okay and safe. This incident happened on the way, before I could reach Birch Goa last night.”

The DJ said she was “still shaken and heartbroken,” adding:

“Praying for the souls we lost and for all those who are injured to recover soon. Please keep them and their families in your prayers.”

Her statement confirms that the fire broke out before the scheduled DJ eventa detail that other eyewitnesses and staff had also hinted at earlier. Security personnel stationed at the venue told reporters that the club was expecting a large crowd later that night for the DJ performance — raising concerns that the casualty count could have been far higher had the fire erupted even 30 minutes later.

The tragedy, which claimed 25 lives, has prompted investigations into alleged illegal construction, ignored safety violations, and missing permissions from the village panchayat.
