South Indian food is becoming very popular now a days. On hearing the name of South Indian food, the name of Idli, Dosa, Sambhar comes to mind, but along with these delicious dishes, Rasam is also a delicious South Indian food dish which is very much liked. Rasam is like a spicy soup in which lentils are not used to make. Although rasam can be prepared in many ways. If you love South Indian food and are always looking to try something new, then rasam can be a great option. Apart from being delicious, it is also very easy to make. If you have never tried the recipe of Rasam, then you can make it very easily with the help of our method.

Rasam Ingredients
Tomato – 1
Rai – 1 tsp
Curry leaves – 10-15
Green chili – 1
Green coriander – 2 tbsp
Tamarind juice – 1 cup
Turmeric – 1/4 tsp
Asafoetida – 1 pinch
Dry red chili – 2
Oil – 2 tbsp
water (3 cups
salt – as per taste

For Masala Paste
Cumin – 1 tbsp
Garlic – 3 cloves
Coriander stalk – 2 tbsp
Black pepper – 1 tsp

Rasam Recipe
To make South Indian Style Rasam, first finely chop the green chillies and finely chop the tomatoes, coriander leaves. Now grind 1 tbsp cumin, garlic clove, green coriander and black pepper in a mixer jar. After it becomes a thick paste, take out the mixture in a bowl and keep it aside. Now put oil in a pan and keep it on medium flame for heating.

When the oil becomes hot, add mustard seeds, dry red chillies, asafoetida and curry leaves and fry for some time. Now add the prepared masala paste and fry it for a minute. After this, add finely chopped tomatoes, turmeric, chillies and salt as per taste in the pan. Now fry this mixture till the tomatoes become soft. When the tomatoes become soft, add tamarind juice and 3 cups of water and mix well. After that cover the pan and let the rasam cook for about 10 minutes. During this, keep stirring the rasam in between. It has to be cooked till the rawness of the rasam is gone. When the rasam boils well, put finely chopped coriander leaves in it. Tasty rasam is ready. Serve it with rice.
