New Delhi, The e-gaming company Mobile Premier League (MPL) has been elected the jersey sponsor of the Indian cricket team for the next three years.
The Cricket Board of India (BCCI) has tied up with MPL for jersey sponsorship. MPL will now replace Nike.
A BCCI source said that after a meeting of the BCCI’s apex council on October 17, all the members of the council gave their approval to the deal via email.
“All the members of the Apex Council have given their approval to this agreement,” the source told IANS. The Indian team will visit Australia in the coming times and we do not want this series to be held without a jersey sponsor, so we have agreed that we will go with whatever is good given the current market situation.
On the tour of Australia, the Indian team has to play three ODIs, the same T20 and four-match Test series from 27 November to 19 January 2021.
The BCCI, however, has not yet released any official statement regarding the deal.
