New Delhi. The Election Commission on Wednesday announced that it has changed the date of polling for the bypolls to two assembly seats in Maharashtra’s Pune district from February 27 to February 26. The decision was taken after Chinchwad and Kasba Peth seats were informed about the dates for polling along with the scheduled examinations for 12th and graduation.
The Election Commission had announced on January 18 that bypolls to the seats in Arunachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Lakshadweep would be held on February 27 and the counting of votes would take place on March 2. Thereafter, the Pune District Election Officer notified the date of polling along with the dates of 12th class HSC exam and graduation degree exam to be held at various polling booths in the assembly constituencies.
The Commission after considering the case, ground situation and all other relevant aspects of the matter, has decided to revise the date of poll for the bye-elections to both the seats.
