Azad Hind Army Major Ishwarlal Singh passes away at the age of 92, Defense Minister condoles
Ishwar Lal Singh, a major in the Azad Hind Army led by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, died in Singapore on Friday. He was 92 years old. His family members have given this information. Ishwar Lal Singh joined the Indian National Army i.e. Azad Hind Foj in 1943. Melwinder Singh, one of the veteran army officer’s nephews, said, “We are saddened to inform you of the demise of our uncle Ishwar Lal Singh.” He passed away on August 5, 2022.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh tweeted, “An irreparable loss. A veteran of the Azad Hind Army, Major (Sen.) Ishwar Lal Singh fought for India’s freedom with extraordinary courage and perseverance. I remember my conversation with him during my visit to Singapore in November 2019. Saddened by his demise.Condolences to his family.Om Shanti.
The Defense Minister met Singh during his last visit to Singapore in November 2019. The Indian High Commission in Singapore has also confirmed Singh’s death. “We deeply mourn the demise of Ishwar Lal Singh of Azad Hind Force. May his soul rest in peace,” said the official Twitter handle of the Indian High Commission in Singapore.
