The 22nd International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards Ceremony has been postponed. The decision follows the death of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The event was to take place in Abu Dhabi. The official social media page of IIFA mourns the death of the President of the UAE. Earlier, the IIFA Awards Ceremony was scheduled to be held in March, but the dates were postponed due to caution regarding Corona.
The awards ceremony was to be held on May 20 and 21. The event will now take place on July 14, 15 and 16 in Abu Dhabi. The IFA tweeted on the death of the President: “We are saddened by the death of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates. We extend our deepest condolences to his family and the people of the United Arab Emirates. God give them peace.
40 days of national mourning
The president of the UAE passed away on Friday. People around the world mourned the death of 73-year-old Sheikh Khalifa. He was reportedly ill for some time. A 40-day national holiday has been declared in the UAE following his death.
