For the first time, a case registered for giving wrong information in the voter list, the administration became strict on the irregularities in SIR.
Rampur:For the first time, such a case has been registered in Rampur district of Uttar Pradesh. Legal action has been taken against an entire family for giving wrong information in the form submitted for updating the voter list during SIR. This action has been taken with the aim of ensuring transparency of the voter list and preventing any kind of manipulation in the electoral processes.
Reason for filing FIR
While filing the complaint, a supervisor of Rampur said that a woman named Noorjahan had filled the form on behalf of her two sons Aamir Khan and Danish Khan. Preliminary investigation revealed that both the sons have been living in Dubai and Kuwait for many years, yet in the form they were shown as local residents. Not only this, his signature was also forged in the form.
These irregularities were revealed when the Booth Level Officer (BLO) matched the documents during the digitization process. On the basis of the complaint, an FIR has been registered against the entire family under Section 31 of the BNS Act and the Representation of the People Act.

Rampur District Magistrate Ajay Kumar Dwivedi confirmed the matter and said that giving any kind of wrong information related to the voter list is a serious crime. He said that the special in-depth review is being done with complete transparency. Any kind of wrong information, hiding of facts or double entry is a direct violation of election rules. Strict legal action is mandatory in such cases.
According to the DM, such wrong entries affect the credibility of the electoral process, hence the administration is adopting a zero tolerance policy regarding this.

- Giving false information or hiding identity is punishable by law.
- Trying to add the same person’s name to more than one place is a crime.
