Google has started rolling out significant upgrades to the video editing features of its Google Photos app, introducing AI-powered tools and a redesigned interface to streamline the editing process for users.
This long-awaited enhancement greatly improves the video editing experience on Android smartphones in several key ways. Users can now access a one-tap auto-enhance button, an upgraded trim tool for precise cuts, a new speed adjustment option for slow-motion or fast-paced effects, and video stabilization, among other essential editing tools.
Meanwhile, the new Speed tool allows you to speed up or slow down the video, and the Trim tool has been enhanced with improved settings that allow you to precisely clip the material. “We’re starting to roll out some exciting improvements to our video editor, making it easier than ever to edit your favourite videos into stunning clips to share,” Google announced on its Photos Help page.
Apart from the manual settings, Google is launching AI-driven video presets for users of both Android and iOS. With the help of these presets you may automate various editing tasks including trimming, speed control, lighting tweaks and dynamic effects like motion tracking and zooming.
The redesigned arrangement makes these tools easier to use and move away from the previous small, unlabelled button compact form. Also, Google intends to make it “easier than ever to edit your favourite videos into stunning clips to share.”
The lack of video editing tools in Google Photos led to users turning to third-party applications like TikTok and Instagram to improve their videos, even as the app has been steadily introducing new options to edit images. However, more users should find the app more appealing as a result of the additional AI features.
This upgrade comes after previous modifications to Google Photos, such as a redesign of the Collections page and improvements to the app’s search capability. The new functionality will be gradually rolled out to users over the next few days. Google has not provided a specific date for full device availability.
