According to direct information, at the time of the incident another train was passing in the opposite direction. Meanwhile, someone threw an empty liquor bottle and other items out of the moving train, which directly hit the engine of the GT Express. The collision was so strong that the windshield of the engine was shattered and pieces of broken glass hit the assistant loco pilot. He was provided immediate medical aid.

After the accident, the train was taken to a safe place and another engine was arranged for the further journey. Railway officials said that the injured employee is being treated in the railway hospital and his condition is being monitored.

RPF started investigation

Railway Protection Force (RPF) has started investigation into the matter. Officials say that throwing luggage from running trains is not only a violation of rules, but can also put the lives of passengers and railway employees in danger.

The incident occurred early Thursday around 1 am between Singarayakonda and Ulavapadu railway stations in Andhra Pradesh’s Prakasam district. Initial investigation suspects that some passengers aboard the Ernakulam-Bilaspur Express had thrown out leftover food and empty liquor bottles, which hit the engine of the GT Express.
