New Delhi: The last surviving member of a Gurugram family devastated by the Malviya Nagar hotel fire has died, bringing an end to a tragedy that wiped out three generations of the same household within days.

Radheshyam Agrawal passed away on Tuesday morning at a Delhi hospital, where he had been admitted for medical treatment.

Family Had Come to Delhi for Treatment

The Agrawal family, residents of Sector 46 in Gurugram, had traveled to Delhi for Radheshyam Agrawal’s treatment. While he remained admitted to hospital, his family members stayed at a hotel in Hauz Rani near Malviya Nagar so they could remain close to him.

However, a devastating fire broke out at the hotel on June 3, turning the temporary stay into a major tragedy. Among those killed were Agrawal’s wife, his son Vivek Agrawal, daughter-in-law, and two granddaughters. Three other relatives also lost their lives in the blaze.

One of Delhi’s Deadliest Hotel Fires

The Malviya Nagar hotel fire claimed a total of 22 lives, including 13 foreign nationals, making it one of the deadliest fire incidents reported in Delhi in recent years. Investigations later revealed serious alleged violations at the hotel premises.

Hotel Under Investigation

Police investigations found that the hotel was allegedly operating without proper safety clearances. Authorities claimed that permission had been granted for only six rooms, but around 22 to 25 rooms had reportedly been constructed and were in use.

Investigators also stated that the hotel did not possess a valid Fire No-Objection Certificate (NOC).

Police arrested Lavkesh Bajajaccusing him of running the establishment without necessary approvals and fleeing the spot during the fire instead of helping trapped guests.

A Family Lost Forever

With the death of Radheshyam Agrawal, the entire family has now been wiped out. What began as a hospital visit for treatment ended in the loss of an entire household across three generations, leaving behind one of the most heartbreaking human tragedies linked to the Delhi hotel fire.
