Haryana Steelers shine, Gujarat Giants secure thrilling win

A thrilling evening of kabaddi unfolded at the Noida Indoor Stadium in Match 72 and Match 73 of Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) Season 11. Haryana Steelers reaffirmed their status as the season’s top team with an emphatic 43-30 win over Jaipur Pink Panthers, while Gujarat Giants survived a nail-biting finish to defeat Telugu Titans 31-28 in a game decided by clutch defensive brilliance.

Haryana Steelers extend lead

Haryana Steelers put on a dominant all-round display to outclass the Jaipur Pink Panthers by 13 points. Shivam Patare and Vinay delivered Super 10s in a game that showcased the Steelers’ tactical supremacy.

The contest began evenly, with both teams cautiously testing each other’s defences. However, the Steelers’ intent became evident when Vinay’s two-point raid set the tone for their dominance. Jaipur Pink Panthers’ captain Arjun Deshwal tried valiantly to lead his team, completing a Super 10, but his efforts fell short against the Steelers’ well-oiled machine.

The first turning point came midway through the opening half as Haryana inflicted an ALL OUT, building a seven-point lead. Mohammadreza Shadloui’s expert ankle holds and Naveen’s precision tackles neutralized Jaipur’s attacking threats, allowing the Steelers to finish the first half with a commanding 22-12 lead.

In the second half, the Steelers capitalized on their advantage, securing another ALL OUT to further widen the gap. Despite moments of brilliance from Jaipur’s Lucky Sharma, including a Super Tackle on Shivam Patare, the Pink Panthers failed to mount a comeback. With Shadloui and Naveen leading the defence and Vinay and Patare shining in attack, the Steelers extended their lead atop the PKL standings with a comfortable win.

Parteek’s heroics propel Gujarat Giants to win

The second match of the evening saw Gujarat Giants edge out Telugu Titans in a high-intensity thriller. Parteek Dahiya’s Super 10 and timely defensive efforts proved decisive in securing Gujarat’s third win of the season.

Both teams began on the front foot, with raiders Parteek Dahiya and Vijay Malik leading their respective sides. The first half was a see-saw battle, with Guman Singh’s two-point raid giving Gujarat an early advantage before Malik’s solo brilliance kept the Titans alive. Malik completed his Super 10 before halftime, helping Telugu Titans overturn Gujarat’s lead to go into the break with a narrow 17-15 advantage.

In the second half, Gujarat responded strongly as Dahiya found his rhythm, leading his team to an ALL OUT on the Titans. Gujarat’s defence, which had been quiet in the first half, stepped up when it mattered most. Despite Malik’s relentless raiding, including a critical Do-or-Die raid late in the game, Gujarat managed to keep their noses ahead.

The climax saw Gujarat’s Himanshu Singh execute a decisive Super Tackle on Parteek Dahiya to seal the game with seconds remaining. The Titans fought valiantly, but Gujarat’s defensive resolve ensured they held on for a narrow three-point win.

What’s Next?

With these results, Haryana Steelers solidified their position as the team to beat this season, while Gujarat Giants’ hard-earned victory gives them renewed hope in their campaign. Jaipur Pink Panthers and Telugu Titans, meanwhile, will need to regroup quickly as the PKL season intensifies.
