Ayurvedic expert’s advice on drinking coffee

Ayurvedic experts believe that coffee is a ‘stimulant’ which should be taken in limited quantities. Consuming it in excess is injurious to health.

As far as possible, avoid drinking coffee on an empty stomach, as it can lead to acidity.
If you have complaints of anxiety, acidity and excessive dryness, then instead of black coffee, you should drink milk.
You can also add a spoonful of ghee to black coffee to combat excess dryness.
If you have trouble sleeping, then you should avoid drinking coffee after 3 pm.
Avoid drinking too much coffee in case of menopause, skin diseases, restlessness.
Coffee contains a lot of ‘Rajas’ or active energy. So, if you feel lethargic, it is good to have a cup between 8-10 am in the morning.
Avoid taking it as a mid-meal drink, that is because it can weaken digestion and you will not feel hungry for your food.
