There is an atmosphere of panic around the world due to the new Omicron variant of the corona virus.

The cases of this infection are increasing rapidly all over the world. Let us tell you that new cases are coming up every day in big cities like capital Delhi, Mumbai. According to reports, Omicron is being described as a much milder variant than Delta, although the speed of its spread is surprising to scientists. Amidst all this, WHO technical chief Maria van Kerkhove on Friday listed three reasons for the rapid spread of Omicron. In fact, Kerkhov recently said that 'people need to think about reducing their exposure to the virus and controlling its transmission.

Record cases of corona have been registered last week which is 71 percent more than last week. With this, van Kerkhove further said, 'The new Omicron variant is spreading so fast among people for several reasons.' The first reason, he said, is that the mutations of the new variant help the virus to attach easily to human cells. Another reason is that the new variant has the ability to evade the immune system. As a result, people are at increased risk of reinfection.

This means that it is difficult to avoid it even for people who have been infected before or those who have been vaccinated. Giving a third reason, Kerkhov said, 'At Omicron we are seeing the virus replicating in the upper respiratory tract, which is completely different from Delta or any of the previous variants. All the previous strains of corona used to replicate in the lower respiratory tract in the lungs, which slowed its progress slightly. He says that apart from all these reasons, the virus is also spreading rapidly due to more interaction of people.
