Hyundai Tucson gets 5-star safety rating in India NCAP crash test

Hyundai TucsonIt has received a 5-star rating in the India NCAP crash test, becoming the first Hyundai SUV to do so. The most premium SUV offered by the South Korean manufacturer has joined Mahindra and Tata SUVs in the list of 5 star SUVs offered in India.

Hyundai Tucson has got 30.84 points out of 32 in Adult Occupant Protection. It has got 41 out of 49 points in child occupant protection. It was found to be fine in the side pole impact test. The model of Hyundai Tucson tested by India NCAP was the top-spec 2.0-litre petrol-AT Signature variant. This special variant gets six airbags, three-point seatbelts with reminder for all passengers, ISOFIX anchors for the rear on board seats and Electronic Stability Control (ESC). AIS-100 is also available in the SUV.

When it comes to adult occupant protection, the Hyundai Tucson has scored 30.84 out of 32 in Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) in the BNCAP test. The SUV has scored 14.84 out of 16.00 in the frontal offset deformable barrier test, while it has scored 16.00 out of 16.00 in the overall good safety test.

When it comes to child safety, Tucson got a score of 41 out of 49. It scored 24/24 in the dynamic test and 12/12 in the CRS installation test.

Talking about the price, the price of Hyundai Tucson is between Rs 29.02-35.94 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai). The Tucson is powered by 2.0-litre petrol and diesel engines. The petrol engine generates power of 154bhp and torque of 192Nm. It is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. There is also a diesel engine that generates 194bhp and 416Nm of torque. It is paired with an eight-speed automatic unit.
