New Delhi: US President Donald Trump connects with Secretary of State Marco Rubio on phone during Rubio’s visit to India at an event celebrating 250 years of America’s independence at the Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. He’s my friend, and I just want to say a very good evening to everybody here this morning and there this evening. And I just want to say, you guys are wonderful. We’ve never been closer to India, and India can 100% trust me and our country.” Is.”

Record bilateral ‘economy’: Trump  

In fact, Donald Trump also emphasized the strength of the US economy and reiterated his support for India. He said, “If they ever need help, they know who to call. They call right here. We’re doing great. We’re setting records. Our economy is at record levels, our stock market is at record levels, and India can have everything it needs again. And I’m a very, very big fan of Prime Minister Modi.”

Rubio’s visit to India  

The comments came during Rubio’s four-day visit to India, the main objective of which was to address the sourness in bilateral ties and advance cooperation in defence, trade, energy and critical technologies. Rubio met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday and Foreign Minister S. Met Jaishankar.

PM Modi and Rubio discussed defense cooperation, strategic technologies, trade and investment, energy security, connectivity, education and people-to-people ties. Rubio also shared the US perspective on developments in West Asia.

In a post on Twitter after meeting Rubio, PM Modi said India and the United States “will continue to work together for global good.”

Iran will not be able to hold the global energy market hostage: Rubio  

The US State Department reported that Rubio stressed that Washington “will not allow Iran to hold the global energy market hostage,” and also said that US energy exports could help diversify India’s energy supply. Speaking in New Delhi, Rubio described India-US relations as one between two countries "strategic alliance" told, whose "have global influence and have the potential to influence global events".

‘US visa issue’, Pakistan’s mediation and Quad meeting  

The visit comes at a time when both sides are trying to stabilize their ties after tensions over US visa restrictions, deportations and Washington’s stance towards Pakistan. This visit of Rubio is taking place just before the meeting of foreign ministers of Quad countries to be held in New Delhi on May 26.
