IIT Mandi becomes the first institute in the country to start B.Tech course in Quantum Science

Himachal Pradesh, Mandi. Indian Institute of Technology Mandi has created a new history in the higher education sector of India. Keeping in mind the emerging technical industries and national priorities, the institute has announced three new revolutionary Undergraduate (Bachelor of Technology) programmes. With this the institute has become the first institute in the country to start a dedicated B.Tech course in Quantum Science and Engineering.

IIT Mandi has started three new courses which include B.Tech in Quantum Science and Engineering, B.Tech in Agricultural Engineering with Data Analytics and B.Tech in Chemical Engineering with Data Analytics.

Students will be prepared for modern needs

According to the institute, its main objective is to combine the strong foundation of traditional engineering with data analytics, artificial intelligence and cutting-edge research. So that students can directly prepare for the modern needs of the industry. Under the Quantum Science and Engineering programme, students will be taught quantum computing, secure communications, quantum sensing and hardware engineering as well as computer science and mathematics.

Work will be done on precision farming

Apart from this, Agricultural Engineering with Data Analytics course has been started to promote modern technology in the agriculture sector. This will improve precision farming, sustainable agriculture and climate-resilient food systems. In this, students will also be given practical training in Machine Learning, Internet of Things and Remote Sensing.

In this third program started under the School of Chemical Sciences, chemical engineering has been linked with computational modeling and data science. The most important thing is that in this, students will also get the option to do minor or double major in science, humanities or management.
