Imtiaz Ali’s ‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’ to release as planned amid box office clash with ‘Bharat Bhagya’

Imtiaz Ali responds reflects on box office  clash with ‘Bharat Bhagya’

Imtiaz Ali has opened up about a box office clash with Kangana Ranaut’s upcoming film Bharat Bhagya.

In an exclusive interview with Free Press Journal, the Jab We Met director spoke at length about the box office clash, confirming that he had locked the date first and would go ahead as per his plan.

Reacting to the sudden change in the release date after other directors announced their respective projects, he expressed, “These things are not in control. We announced first. Usually, in the film industry, there’s a kind of bhaichara like ‘meri film aa rahi hai toh tu mat aa, next baar aaja’ and that kind of thing, and it usually works. This is the first time I am hearing that other movies are also coming out on that day. But, if that is going to be the case, then so be it.”

For the unversed, the Rockstar filmmaker was the first to announce June 12, 2026 as the official release date of his film.

His film Main Vaapas Aaunga is a story based on love and longing in the partition era, starring Diljit Dosanjh, Naseeruddin Shah, Vedang Raina, and Sharvari in key roles.
